Stop Execution of Children in Iran, Mona from "Freedom" Series

On June 18, 1983, Mona Mahmudi-Nejad was hanged publicly with nine other women in Shiraz Iran solely for their belief in Baha’i Faith. She was only 17 years old.

One of those ten women was my cousin, Tahirih Arjmandi who was a volunteered nurse in rural Shiraz. She was 32 years old.

The death penalty in Iranian judiciary system is a discriminatory form of punishment against religious and ethnic minorities, prisoners of consciousness, political dissidents, students, minors, and women.

Iran's use of the death penalty for crimes committed as minors does not mean it violates human rights, a senior Iranian official, Majid Tafreshi of the state-run High Council for human rights, has insisted to AFP in response to UN criticism. 30/06/21.

Iran is the last executioner of children in the world.
